 In Petrozavodsk the youth urban policy programme for the period till 2010 is elaborated. Main programme creators are Youth Department of the City Administration and the Union of children and youth organizations of Karelia. The determination of programme “Youth policy of the city of Petrozavodsk” confirmation was accepted by the city council session on December 26.

 On the 28th of December the youth visit centre opening happened in the suburbs of Petrozavodsk (Luchevoe-1 place). The youth visit centre was established within the projects “Youth House Karelia”, which is implemented on the European Union funds. During half a year a two-storied house with all conveniences was build that will be used as all-the-year-round base for the seminars and other youth organizations activities holding. A big part of the building was accomplished by volunteers. The mayor of Petrozavodsk Viktor Maslyakov took part in the opening. He thanked the European Union for the funding of the project “Youth House Karelia” and presented the letter of gratitude to the youth volunteers of the Youth Union “Doroga” and “Scouts of Karelia” that made an important contribution to the visit centre building. The mayor also gave a special present to the visit centre - a big LCD television. |

 Children’s TV programme “After school” resumes the airing on the channel TNT-Petronet in Petrozavodsk. The new release happens at 19 o’clock on December 14. Since October releases of the programme were stopped because of the well-known events in the TV Company “Petronet” following which the editorial team left the company.
The programme “After school” is build up by the children’s TV studio of the Youth Union “Doroga”. The students make the programme from the beginning to the end by themselves – they appear in the roles of journalists, cameramen and cut films with the help of computers. The new programme release will tell us about the summer school of TV journalism, which took place in Finland – children master the basis of TV journalism and at the same time they study ecology with Finnish students. The summer school of ecological TV journalism was organized within the project “Youth House Karelia”. |

 Youth ecological forum took place in Petrozavodsk on October 19-20. The forum is held within the project “Youth House Karelia”, which is implemented by the support of the European Union. The main participants of the forum are youth organizations of Petrozavodsk, Segezha and Sortavala Karelian districts, as their Finnish partners – representatives of the region North Karelia from the cities of Joensuu, Lieksa, Ilomantsi, Kontiolahti. Guests of the forum became representatives of Karelian districts – Pudozh, Prionezhskiy, Kalevala, Suoyarvi, Kondopoga districts and the city of Kostomuksha.

 On Thursday, September 27, an official opening of the Internet centre took place in Segezha within the international project “Youth House Karelia”. The project is aimed at the development of youth ecological education. Thanks to the opening of the Internet centre youth organizations of Segezha get new opportunities for the development of cooperation with Finnish partners and they will elaborate joint projects in the field of ecological education.

 In the borough Luchevoe-1 an out-of-town youth visit-centre is being built at full speed. In 2 months a well-equipped comfortable small house will appear here which will be used for holding youth ecological camps all the year round.

 From the 27th of August till the 1st of September the Summer school of ecological TV journalism took place. Camp’s organizers are Youth Union “Doroga”, Petrozavodsk and the School of East Finland (Joensuu) which is specialized in learning Russian. School’s pedagogues conducted series of educational lessons in ecology, and specialists of the Youth Union “Doroga” taught children TV journalism, video shooting and film montage.

 On the 10th of August the meeting of Russian scouts “Jamboree – 100 fires” that had taken place in Karelia for 10 days finished. The meeting became the main event of the celebration of the world scout movement’s anniversary. On National organization of Russian scouts’ initiative 2000 Russian scouts from 37 regions of Russia and from 6 foreign countries gathered in Karelia.
